History of Competition Prohibitions in Florida In general, non-compete agreements (also known as restrictive agreements) in which an employee promises not to compete with his employer`s activities during employment and for a certain period of time after the termination of the employment relationship. Non-compete rules may include a worker`s agreement not to work for the employer`s competitor(s) and a worker`s agreement not to promote the employer`s customers for a certain period of time.11 In addition to the context between the worker and the employer, non-compete agreements between a buyer and seller are often used when buying a current business.
